New Pearl Izumi technology to be launched at iceBike* 2017

Posted On: January 26th, 2017

Next month’s iceBike* and Sportline Show is set to show off the latest in cycling apparel design from one of the leading global brands, Pearl Izumi.

As the market becomes increasingly competitive, clothing brands need to be reactive and innovative to stay ahead of the curve. iceBike* represents an excellent opportunity to not only see what new products are on the market but also learn more about merchandising and what is coming in the not too distant future.

Since its inception in 1950, Pearl Izumi has been a constant innovator in the cycling apparel market. From the first use of a Boa in cycle footwear to the first lobster glove, Pearl Izumi strives to push the boundaries of cycling apparel design. 2017 sees the introduction of a new proprietary technology, PI Dry™. This technology is exclusively for Pearl Izumi to use in the cycling industry for the next three years, so won’t be seen utilised by any other brands in the near future.

Pearl Izumi Pursuit Thermal Bib-Tight (RRP: £129.99) and Pro Softshell Arm Warmer (RRP: £39.99)

PI Dry™ is a new form of permanent water resistant technology that involves coating each individual fiber so that it remains water repellent under stretch and doesn’t saturate to maintain fabric performance. Not only does this technology not compromise on comfort and breathability but even after 100 washes, 90% of the performance of the garments will be maintained. The industry standard for DWR garments is 80% of performance maintained after just 20 washes, so PI Dry™ not only repels water, but it really lasts too.

Among some of the new products taking advantage of PI Dry™ are the Pursuit Thermal Bib Tight, Elite Escape Amfib Bib Tight, Pro Softshell Arm Warmer and Elite Thermal Knee Warmer. Visit iceBike* to see the range up close as well as get a demonstration of how PI Dry™ works from the experts on the stand.

In its 11th year, Madison’s successful iceBike* and Sportline Show 2017 will run over two days on Tuesday 21 February and Wednesday 22 February and take place at Arena:MK.
